 National Institute of Informatics (NII) launched the Japanese Institutional Repository Online (JAIRO) as a test service on October 22nd, 2008. JAIRO provides an opportunity of cross-searching academic information stored in Japanese IRs including journals, theses, desertations, departmental research bulletins, research reports and many others. As of October 2008, JAIRO had about 540,000 searchable contents in 84 IRs. " We wish JAIRO shows the present and the future, be the gyrocompass, of the Japanese IRs", says JAIRO's staff. Open Repositories 2009 Call for Papers, Posters and Workshops December 1, 2008 The planning committee for the OR2009 Conference has announced the call for papers, posters and workshops. This call includes topics of interest to key stakeholders in open repositories as well DSpace user group presentation proposals. The first submission deadline is February 2.
